Bush Proposal

I have a stance on this topic, and am a little late in addressing it. I’d like to get your opinions without injecting my own. To that end, I am remaining as neutral as I can. If any comments or discussions result, I may get engaged. Most of you have already heard about the Bush Administration proposal from early last week. An extract from this article summarizes it.

The proposal would cut off federal funds to hospitals and states that attempt to compel medical providers to offer legal abortion and contraception services to women.

The proposal circulated to media defines abortion broadly to include many types of contraception, including birth control pills and intrauterine devices.

I already acknowledged I’m late, so now it’s your turn to acknowledge I exist! Thoughts from both sides of the aisle are welcome!

Rob Gets Asked for IDTonight, the family and I went out to dinner with a gang of eight other friends. I was very surprised, but extremely flattered, to be asked for my ID. Since I’m thirty-two, with a birthday coming up in August, I was delighted by this request. As dinner came to a close, I asked our server very politely if she wouldn’t mind posing with me while she held my ID. As I’m only getting older, I thought this was one of the last times I would be asked for ID. Before tonight, it had been years, so I thought the moment should be captured on camera. Kandis and the server graciously agreed to the proposal, which was really a bit ridiculous.

Thanks to our wonderful waitress and my most lovely wife for agreeing to this goofball stunt!

I might add that Cooper was just to my left in this picture. In an effort to preempt any criticism of our parenting abilities, I will say that no toddlers were psychologically damaged while this photo was being taken. Any criticism — especially that from the extreme right wing — will be placed in our circular file with the utmost care.

Pops Celebrates After Finishing a Project at Work

July 16, 2008 · Filed Under Fatherhood · 2 Comments

I’ve been working on a major programming project at work that has plagued me for about a week and a half. I finally finished up today, but it involved sacrificing family time, which I do regret. I did get some quality time with Cooper before he went down, which was nice. Needless to say, there will be some family time this weekend.

After my hard work, I decided to celebrate by small success, and did so in style. Tonight’s choice: a twenty-four ounce tall boy of Busch Beer ©. It doesn’t get any better.

N.B. I wanted a photograph of the beer can, but couldn’t find a decent one that wouldn’t require some back and forth with the photographer to get appropriate permissions. In the interest of delivering a post tonight, I chose to forgo the images.
