Normal Vaginal Births Cause Infant Brain Hemorrhages - CME Teaching Brief® - MedPage Today
As if there weren’t enough to worry about with the upcoming delivery, now I have to think about my poor kid having tiny brain hemorrhages on his way out.
Actually, according to this article, there’s not a lot of cause for panic. These small bleeds are common, and those of us who may have had them during birth are alive today and doing fine. The doctors say it’s likely our brains have evolved over time to make that passage from the womb to the outside world.
Even still, it’s not something I’m wanting to imagine for the little guy.
Yodel Away
About a year ago, I came across yodelcourse.com. Since then, I’ve been yodeling quite frequently, much to the dismay of Kandis, and the animals. I’m not very good and am only able to do some of the basic yodels, but I do quite enjoy it. My goal is to be able to conquer lesson five of the Yodel Course. It’s a bugger.
I suspect I will need the yodeling to accompany while I change diapers, or perform other unpleasant activities that are a part of fatherhood. That should make for an interesting “birds and bees” talk.
Ass-Kicking Dad
I decided some time ago that I want to be one of those dads that looks like he could kick other dads’ asses. Right now, I look like I would probably get my rear end kicked by most other dads.
For the last several years, I’ve lifted weights on and off. At times, I’ve looked more cut and muscular, but at the moment I have a spare tire and my arms aren’t impressive. This year, I’ve made a commitment to stick to the weights, and have even set a few goals that I’d like to reach by June.
Why, you ask, would I be aiming for such a ridiculous goal? Good question. With a more commanding physical presence, I could help set a good example for my son, and make him feel safe and secure when he’s with me. I don’t currently have the ability to command respect through verbal means, but I know from experience that when I feel more physically fit and satisfied with how I look, my confidence level is much higher. If my son can see that his father is a confident individual, he will surely pick up on that.
It’s unfortunate that I seem to require satisfaction with my physical appearance in order to feel more confident, but at the moment, it’s what I have to work with. I hope that my son’s confidence won’t be so dependent on his physical state.
