Tantrum
Earlier this evening, Cooper through a little tantrum because things weren’t going his way. As he was sitting on the floor, he began screaming while flailing his arms about wildly. When he realized his effort was yielding no results, he toppled to the floor in silence and began sucking his thumb. That final act got him some attention from his audience: laughter.
Maybe there’s a lesson in all this. When there’s a temper brewing, if you can’t redirect it at the onset, don’t indulge it. I would guess that holding back the laughter at the end of the fit should be avoided as well, as comical as it may be. We’ll keep that in mind for the next hundred or so tantrums we experience in the coming years ![]()
What Makes a Good Parent?
Hell if I know. My mother tells us consistently what great parents we are to Cooper. The problem is, I’m not so sure it’s us, as it is our son. He’s just a good-natured little guy. We do our best, learning and adapting as time goes on. Since he’s got such a good disposition, it’s not hard for us to let him know he’s loved. The two must be interdependent, but I don’t think we as new parents can take all the credit.
Our newest challenge as parents: boundaries and consequences! Stay tuned!
First Steps… With a Little Help
Cooper, with the help of a gift from his grandparents, started training for the big day when he starts walking. It provided some entertaining moments for us all.
