Once Upon a Time…
I had a fairly organized home office. Except for the desk, things were neat, and one wouldn’t require a GPS device to find the door. These days, I frequently bring Cooper up to the office with me. Sometimes, it’s to give him a change of scenery, and other times it’s so that I can check e-mail or tool around on the guitar. What you see here is the result of how he chooses to spend his time.
My first impulse was to clean this up tonight, but I couldn’t quite bring myself to do it. It’s a nice little reminder that I have a son, and it makes me smile when I try to imagine what he’s thinking as he moves all of this junk from place to place. I think I’ll keep the mess for a while. Until I break my ankle, anyway.

I am an impulsive cleaner as well. I want to have things cleaned up before I go to bed or leave for work, ect. I do need to let go of this as well and be reminded that I have a little one who had a great time making that mess. Great point.
Seriously, you have time to play the guitar? How cool is that. We bought one, but it is still sitting in it’s case.
Hey James,
I’ve gotten a little less impulsive about the cleaning. I used to be obsessed about keeping the floors spotless. Somehow, I’ve managed to let go of that, which borders on the miraculous.
Believe it or not, there is time to play guitar. It depends on Cooper’s mood and willingness to entertain himself, but I do get a fair amount of practice time in. There are also times when he likes to “help” me play by dampening the strings as I strum.
